On October 16th, 2021, the Oceano Azul Foundation received, at the Lisbon Oceanarium, 75 organizations and entities from all over the country that are dedicated to fighting marine litter and protecting the Ocean.

SOMAR, as in 2020, was present in this edition of the Convention of Organizations for a Clean Ocean (COOL).

This day included presentations from numerous entities and each work they are developing throughout the country, including the islands. There was room to discuss, collaborate and share best practices and strategies to address the challenges facing our ocean. Topics discussed included suggestions on how to increase blue literacy and citizen science, the importance of marine debris collection and refuse, reuse and recycling to protect and restore an ocean that is struggling with pollution. Sharing a collective effort to bring these issues to the table at the UN Ocean Conference 2022.

The day was therefore marked by sharing and exchanging ideas among everyone, united for a common good – a cleaner ocean.
